I worked on Cricket over a span of four years. Here’s some of my favorite work from that time.
Cricket Re-brand
One of my favorite parts about working on Cricket Wireless was my role in it’s re-brand. In the span of a year, Cricket went from the more passive “Something to smile about” with cute, silent mascots to a more active “Smile. You’re on Cricket.” The once simple characters were expanded to have a much bigger role. They could speak, tell stories and most importantly, shout to world why everyone loves Cricket.
Here are some of the earlier spots which surrounded the idea of the characters actually having the job of mascot for the brand.
The first one, “Hiyyye” is still one of Cricket’s best performing spots to date.
Emoji Mnemonic
When we shifted the tagline to "Smile, You're On Cricket." I wanted to re-enforce the message visually. Cue the emoji mnemonic. Not only does it strengthen the emotion we want connected with the brand, but it also creates a strong connection to mobile as well. As the years went on it became adaptable, taking on all forms of materials and subject matters to relate to the messaging it punctuates.
Offer-focused Social
We were asked to bring the internet to life, all while bringing attention to Cricket’s top deals. This project was a dream. I got to work with some of my favorite illustrators, plus turn WWE Superstars into cartoons. Below you’ll see work from Brosmind, Angela Stempel, Craig & Karl, Alex Unger, and Wayne White (Yes, the Emmy award winning puppeteer!)
I even have my own illustrations featured in Cricket’s video game world.
International Women’s Day Social
Cricket wanted to celebrate National Women’s Day. So we combined the Cricket brand (which is full of smiles) with hysterical women. LOL Ladies was born.
A comedy show that streamed LIVE from the Cricket Lounge.
